Squad selection

You may enter one fantasy football squad, multiple squads will be deleted. Your squad must consist of:

  • 2 Goalkeepers
  • 5 Defenders
  • 5 Midfielders
  • 3 Forwards

The number of players you can select from a single team depends on the stage of the competition:

Stage Players from a single team
Group stage 2
Round of 16 3
Quarter-finals 4
Semi-finals 6
Final 12

Each player has been given a value. The initial value of your group stage squad must not exceed 100 million Euros, though this may increase due to player value changes. The value of each player can be found here.

Once the group stage has finished the team budget will be increased 110 million Euros. Any team who is over this limit will need to keep to this limit when making their next transfers. Teams whose value is below this will receive extra money to allow them to spend the full budget limit.

Scoring

During the tournament the fantasy football players will be allocated a point score after each game, based on their performances in the matches. Actions occurring in extra time count but penalty shoot-outs do not. Points are awarded as detailed in the table below:

The Points will be calculated using data provided to us on behalf of UEFA. Neither we nor UEFA will enter into any correspondence relating to the allocation of points to players. We accept no responsibility for the accuracy of this data.

Assists

An assist is awarded when the goal scorer receives the ball directly from a team mate and scores. If the assist pass takes a small deflection which doesn't change the direction of the pass, it will still be given. No assists are awarded for own goals or penalties. Live assists are provisional and will be reviewed within twenty four hours of the match.

Substitutions

Use the My Team page to select eleven players to form your team for the next Matchday. Your formation will automatically change based on the players you have chosen.

Your substitutes do not score points. However, they may be brought into your team as a result of manager and / or automatic substitutions.

Manager substitutions
After all matches on a single day have finished and before the next matches start, you can replace any player who hasn't played or has played less than 60 minutes and wasn't sent off with one from your bench whose team is yet to play.

An unlimited number of manager substitutions can be made, however, it is not possible to make manager substitutions after games on the last day of the Matchday, as all fixtures will have been completed.

Automatic substitutions
In addition, automatic substitutions are made at the end of the Matchday, when all matches have been played. Automatic substitutions will be made even if you have made manager substitutions or captain changes.

If your goalkeeper plays no part in the Matchday, then the computer will substitute the player for your replacement goalkeeper, if they played in the Matchday.

If any of your outfield players play no part in the Matchday, then the computer will try to substitute the inactive player for one of your replacements. This is done by replacing them with your highest priority substitute who actually played in the Matchday. You can change your substitution priorities on the My Team page.

Captains

You must nominate a member of your team to be captain. This player will score double the number of points they would usually have been awarded that Matchday.

After all matches on a single day have finished and before the next matches start, you can change your captain if he played less than 60 minutes and wasn't sent off with a player from your squad whose team is yet to play.

It is not possible to change your captain after games on the last day of the Matchday, as all fixtures will have been completed.

If your captain does not play then the bonus will be lost. Another player will not take over the captaincy in their place.

Any additional transfers made in the same period will deduct 2 points from your total.

If you enter after the start of the first Matchday, you can make unlimited transfers before the next Matchday.

Player values

Player prices vary during the group phase dependent on the popularity of the player in the transfer market. Player values will not change until the season starts.

If you sell a player for a higher price than you paid, then a sell-on fee of 50% (rounded up to the nearest 0.1 million) will be applied on the profits. For example, if you buy a player for 4.2 million and when you transfer the player their value is 4.5 million then you will only receive 4.3 million.

After the group stage the sell-on fee will be removed and all players can be sold at their market value.

Leagues

Each player competes and is automatically entered in a number of leagues. These are:

  • The overall league involving all registered players
  • A league for fellow players from your country
  • A league for players starting the same Matchday as you
  • A league for supporters of your favourite team (optional)
  • Private leagues with your friends and colleagues (optional)

You can be in up to 10 private leagues. Points are awarded after each game as explained in the scoring section.

In the event of a tie between teams in a league, the team who has made the least transfers will be positioned higher.

In addition, you will be automatically entered into a public league with 32 other players.

Players joining before Matchday 1 will be placed in a tournament league which follows the real UEFA Champions League structure.

The 32 players will be broken into eight groups of four and each Matchday play a match against another team in the group, with a match result based on game scores. The top two in each group will qualify for the last 16, with knock-out matches progressing through to the league final. The sixteen non qualifiers will play a consolation knock-out stage.

Any transfer points deductions will also be deducted from your head to head score.

Players entering after Matchday 1 will be entered in a standard league with 32 other game players.

Phases

Each league is run on a phase and overall basis. The phases are as follow:

Phase First Matchday Last Matchday
Overall Matchday 1 Final
Group phase Matchday 1 Matchday 6
Knock-out phase Round of 16 First leg Final
Final four Semi-finals 1st leg Final
